Yucaipa is a charming city that is home to over 52,000 residents, a number that is growing quickly as people discover all that Yucaipa has to offer. At an elevation of approximately 2650 feet, Yucaipa's weather is pleasant most of the year, making it a fabulous place to call home and retire in. It is located off the I10 freeway, just 75 miles east of Los Angeles. Yucaipa has a rich history which began with the Serrano Indians as the original occupants of the site on which the Yucaipa Adobe, Yucaipa’s Historical Landmark #528, was built by James Waters between 1858-59. The adobe home, located at 32183 Kentucky Street in Yucaipa, was restored in 1989-90 and is part of the San Bernardino County Museum system. The adobe is adorned in nineteenth century furnishings and is used for educational fieldtrips, special events, and is open to the public. Although Yucaipa has long attracted retirees with its relaxed atmosphere, fabulous climate and breathtaking scenery, families are beginning to recognize its great potential and value as well. Moderately priced housing, a central location for commutes or recreation, an award winning school district and the Yucaipa Community Center for the youth...it is easy to see that Yucaipa has much to offer people of all ages.
